Daniel R. Nieland, C.P.A. e-mail: dnieland@sbcglobal.net I am a 1971 graduate of Cheboygan High School. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. My accounting career began in Owosso, Michigan where I completed the experience requirements and passed the C.P.A. exam in 1981. In 1981, I moved north to start my own firm. At the time of the move, we had two children under the age of 2 and no business. My children have grown as has the business. I enjoy working directly with my clients. The firm specializes in small business and personal tax preparation. Outside of work I enjoy golf, travel, hunting and spending time with my family.
Joseph D. Kosanke After graduating from Cheboygan High School, I attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. MSU is where I met my wife and is still a large part of our lives, as our family enjoys attending Spartan Football and Basketball games as often as we can. After graduation, I started my accounting career with a large regional CPA firm which has offices throughout the Midwest. After obtaining a CPA license and working at the firm for 5 years, I went to work as the Controller at a steel construction company where I spent two years. It was during those two years that I learned public accounting was the right career for me and that Northern Michigan was where we wanted to raise our two children.

I am a Cheboygan native but after receiving my associate's degree in accounting from Ferris State College, my husband and I lived in the Ann Arbor area for approximately two years where I worked as a bookkeeper for a CPA firm. We moved 'home' to Cheboygan in 1978 and raised our two children in wonderful northern Michigan. I worked as a bookkeeper in private businesses until 1989 at which time I joined the firm of Nieland & Kosanke, P.C. (formerly Daniel R. Nieland, CPA). As bookkeeper, I handle the preparation of payroll taxes and all related forms, monthly bookkeeping including financial statements and year-end trial balances for clients. I enjoy my position with the firm and feel the office staff is very willing to help clients with their needs.
